Sunday Editing

I try to edit every Sunday, the day before another long and busy week of photographing more beautiful places.  I've been revising my photo trips and started working on Zion, this was a really unique landscape compared to the other places I've visited.  I did all of my editing in lightroom, no photoshop.

This was a longer process since I did an HDR Panorama, which is 3 exposures merged together, one over, one under and one perfectly exposed.  In total it took 9 images to create the final image; I used Lightroom brushes to pump up the colour and bring out more of the detail in the rock.

For an exclusive look at how I edited this image check out my Facebook page!

I still can't decide if I like this one better in black and white or colour!  Post in the comments below which one you like the most!

White Sands National Monument

I visited White Sands National Monument earlier this year, it was also the first time I had been to New Mexico.  We went for sunset, and the next day went around 10am since it wasn't open till after sunrise.  We were extremely lucky, not many people had been visiting recently so the sand was untouched and there were very sparse clouds which made the sky more interesting.

Once we were in the park, and the sand started to take over our view, I got even more excited!  I love to spend the day at the beach playing in the sand.

It was very fine and smooth, I took my shoes off during our hike to enjoy the warm sand between my toes; and let my boots air out after a week of traveling the southeastern USA!

There were very few plants in the two areas we explored over the next couple of days, according to our guide the sands shift often which means every single day at White Sands will look different than the next.  Makes every photograph unique too!

Antelope Canyon

It's amazing here, the rock is still and smooth with beautiful oranges, pinks and reds.  Around every corner there was something beautiful to see and the shapes are gorgeous.  I would love to visit again and take more time to enjoy it.

A Walk Among Nature

When I first started photographing I was immediately drawn to nature photography.  It's the complete opposite of how I spend my day, I get to step away from the computer screen and walk among nature with the sweet smell of pine in the air.

Awesome announcement, all of next week I will be in Utah, USA!  I'll be posting my images from the trip when possible and I'm really excited to share this experience with you guys!  Can't wait to hear from you all!

Baby Photographs

My first child photo shoot!  Connor came in and was such a little trooper!  He's a very big jets fan so I had a white set with a goalie net in the background to go with his jersey.  I really want to try photographing kids again, they're so much fun to play with and their eyes are so big and beautiful!

Infrared Portraits

I recently had the chance to borrow an infrared camera for a week, the effects are surreal and alien like.  Unfortunately it's still winter so I was unable to photograph any landscapes that had a drastic change to the image since everything is white and not green.  The camera captures the layer under the skin or under the leaves if you photograph a landscape changing all the colours.

Figure Study Photographs

This shoot was a real confidence booster for me, since I haven't photographed many people but it was an awesome experience.  The rim lighting was so perfect on Ace, our model accentuating her beautiful lines.  When I first got a chance to look at these pictures I was both surprised and very happy with what I was able to capture!
